As every single mother in the world describes, one of the most difficult and yet beautiful moments for a mother is the pregnancy and then the day when the child is born. It is absolutely incredible, nothing seems more powerful than this moment, especially because a new generation in the family is born. However, before getting pregnant, there are a lot of things that need to be taken into consideration and most importantly the age when a woman should get pregnant.
The same goes for horses as well, there are standardized age ranges for every single animal, and for a horse, this range is usually from 6-15 years old as the fertility rate declines afterward and there is way less chance for a successful pregnancy. However, this mare in the video below got pregnant at an older age and guess what, not only with a baby foal but with two of them, which makes the whole situation even more critical and at the same time, more of a miracle that ended up successfully.
While the chances of having fraternal twins in humans are about 32 in 1,000, for horses this possibility is almost non-existent. Only 1 in 10,000 horse pregnancies result in twins, but one lucky American Paint Horse recently defied the odds and had two of her own! 16-year-old Tiki gave birth to Woodcock Pocket and Charming Opal, a set of twin foals rarely seen by any horse owner across the world.
This makes her a little old to be a mom, but that didn’t matter once it came time to give birth to her twins. Tiki is owned and taken care of by the loving Mason family, who first discovered the twins on an early ultrasound of their prized horse.
While complications can often arise with multiples of large creatures such as this, her two foals were born as happy and healthy as can be. I am so happy that Tiki managed to have a successful pregnancy despite all the problems that were expected in a situation like this.
