What is the moment when we get to appreciate our lives more? It happens when we see someone passing away and then we realize how short our life is. The majority of people tend to complain about the things that they don’t have instead of appreciating all the things they have. We think that our lives are the worst lives, while for sure, there are a lot of people out there who have way worse lives than us.
Here are the two main things that we should avoid, complaining about our lives and being discouraged about our failures and the things that we want to have and we can’t attain. Sometimes, trying and failing might make you way happier than winning and then realizing how much you have stressed yourself for that win. The only way to live life is to enjoy the present and work hard so you can build the future you want.
All of these thoughts come to your mind when you see people like this man in the video below who are on the edge of passing away. Let’s get into this beautiful and at the same time, sad story. Patrick Saunders, 87, knew exactly what his dying wish would be. He was bedridden and in hospice care, but the nurses who cared for him knew that they had to make his wish come true.
All he wanted to do was feed a horse one last time. Patrick loved the equestrian lifestyle and horses ever since his father, Victor, introduced him to them. Nurses at the North Devon Hospice then arranged to have a stallion, also named Victor, come visit Patrick from the North Devon Equine Rescue Center. They wheeled the man outside, where he came face-to-face with the giant horse.
He was absolutely delighted! He fed him apples, carrots, and strong mints before being taken back inside. The nurses had acted in the nick of time: just three days later, Patrick passed away. I am so happy that we passed away happy, doing the thing he wanted. Such an inspiring story that will definitely stick on my mind until the end of my days.
