I think we all can agree that ponies are some of the most adorable creatures and everyone, especially kids, love to own one. Ponies are more petite breeds of horses and have all of the features and natures of regular-sized horses. Although there are more than 200 breeds of ponies all over the world, the Shetland Pony is definitely the most popular one.
Just like horses, they are used in a variety of ways such as riding for please, as working ponies, to participate in different equine competitions. Many people prefer ponies rather than standard-sized horses as they offer a more effortless way to achieve lower end work while lacking less food than a standard-sized horse. Although they are usually peaceful and very friendly, on some occasions ponies can be quite naughty and obstinate sometimes.
For all the parents who want to buy a pony for their kid, they should keep in mind that they also have many requirements and you should properly take care of them, just like you would do with a standard-sized horse. If they are properly trained, there won’t be any complications, but if you don’t look after them regularly, ponies can quickly become dangerous!
When children are taking their first riding lessons, many people enable them to train on well-trained ponies. In the video shown below, you’ll see a little girl riding her pony and just after they jump a hurdle, the little girl loses her balance and falls off her pony. Luckily, she didn’t get hurt and a woman quickly helped her to get up. Watch the video below for more!
